Accident at Work

Whilst working in the kitchen during her duties as a lounge hostess, Miss A underwent an injury when a glass broke in her hand, causing a deep and painful laceration. In the months following the injury, Miss A was unable to perform normal day to day tasks, rendering her dependent upon considerable assistance from her family. Miss A was also concerned about the appearance of the resulting unsightly scar.

Following the incident, Miss A was made aware of many other complaints made against her employers concerning the fragility of the glassware used. We successfully argued that the accident was preventable due a failure to perform an adequate risk assessment that could have identified the risk of injury to Miss A and other employees. Moreover, neither appropriate health and safety training nor protective equipment were ever provided to Miss A. We successfully achieved a settlement of £6,500 in damages for Miss A.
